2025 Isole

$40.00

Inspired by the saline, aromatic and textural dry whites found on various islands of the Mediterranean, hence the name ‘Isole’.

A blend of 52% Fiano & 48% Vermentino. From two different vineyards, each variety was crushed and left on skins for between 12-24 hours prior to fermentation to extract flavour and texture at relatively low alcohol and making for a wine driven as much by texture as acidity. The two batches were brought together to mature in a single clay amphora on fine lees for 11 months. No fining. 1000 bottles made.

Sea spray, lemon, tonic water, jasmine.

“What is clear, however, is that he’s a very considered and excellent/talented maker of wines.

It’s gently nutty and saline with fine balance and a lovely sense of composure. There’s green apple, dried herbs, a little lime and lemon water coolness, quiet perfume, a fine powdery texture, with a bright finish of excellent length, a subtle almond richness and tonic bite to close. Delicious. Highly recommended.” - Gary Walsh

“The wines tasted from this producer so far are all stylish and interesting, though most of all they drink so well. Apple, green melon, some musky floral notes, lemon, almond, cheese rind, a salty samphire thing. It’s all white fruit, fine chalky texture, a bit savoury and umami, floral mouth-perfume, balanced acidity, pulling a little waxy and saline on a finish of good length, lemon peel in the aftertaste. Lots of interest.” - Gary Walsh

“Very pleasing textural white wine. Floral and gently minerally, frisky feel, huge drinkability and good persistence of a sense of freshness. An interesting thing to drink and distinct in its way. Some musk stick and lime, a green pear note, touch of tonic water. I like it.” - Mike Bennie

Halliday Wine Companion - Marcus Ellis, 93 Points

“48/48/4% fiano/vermentino/muscat blanc à petits grains. Such a quietly thoughtful wine, elaborated with calm maturity. That’s the overarching story of this suite of debut releases – a real sense of purpose, of intent. Green apple, floral nectar, lemon pith, rock pools and sea spray, a piney-mint note, the tenor light and easy but the detail high. So nicely judged, the aromatic muscat contributing without dominating (it easily can), the texture so finely measured in its pithiness and ‘ripe’ acidity. Lovely.” - Marcus Ellis
